Transacryl Finish brightens designer bridge

Being Transocean’s member company in Argentina since 1997, Pinturas Platamar has achieved a leading position of Transocean Coatings in the marine market in Argentina. At the same time Transocean Coatings are being used frequently on other objects too.

A fine example is the ‘Puente de las Mujer’, a pedestrian bridge located in one of the tourist spots of Buenos Aires, Puerto Madero. It has a single mast with cables suspending a portion of the bridge which rotates 90 degrees in order to allow water traffic to pass. When it swings to allow watercraft passage, the far end comes to a resting point on a stabilizing pylon.

This ingenious bridge was designed by Santiago Calatrava Valls, an internationally recognized and award-winning Spanish architect and engineer who amongst other projects, was responsible for the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens.

Transpoxy Masterbond was used as a touch-up coating and subsequently coated with Transacryl Finish 3.53 to give an impeccable white finish.

The bridge was donated by Don Alberto L. Gonzalez to the City of Buenos Aires in thanks for 60 years of work in the country. He certainly would be delighted to see that his gift is protected in the best possible way!
